Description
This is a popular poetry activity where students use books in the library or classroom library to stack books into an arrangement that can be read like a poem from top to bottom. Since I’m in the school library it wasn’t very convenient to remove lots of books from the shelves, and many of the books’ spines are covered in labels which partially hide the title. Thus, I created these titles for students to be able to maneuver easily at a table without disrupting circulation of actual books. Great for POETRY UNITS or APRIL - NATIONAL POETRY MONTH & SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH!
1.Print and cut apart strips (laminate for durability and reuse).
2.Place at a station or center for students to arrange into poems by stacking the “book spines” (see picture to the left).
3.Students can record their poems on paper, 3 different recording sheets provided, or by taking pictures with devices in the classroom.
4.Share by posting completed products on a bulletin board or other display.
Includes 125 "Book Spines" with Popular Children's Book Titles.
Now includes a digital version to be used in Google Slides. Link to make a copy of the activity is included on the final page.
