What educators are saying

This is an AWESOME resource! We used it for Leprechaun day in our kindergarten classroom. The kiddos had a blast using the measuring skills they’ve learned. It is definitely going in to the learning plans again next year.
My students and I loved using this resource. It was a fun way to practice measuring with both customary and non-customary units. It also made for a great hallway display!

Description

It's Leprechaun Season! Woo hoo! Included in this fun set are five adorable leprechaun measuring activities using both standard and non-standard measurement, PLUS area & perimeter! For a better look at what's included, just click on PREVIEW!

How Tall Is That Leprechaun?:

Students will be using both standard and non-standard units to measure each leprechaun.

Pot Of Gold Area and Perimeter:

Students will use the gold coins provided (or you could use plastic ones, if you have them) to measure the area and perimeter of each pot of gold.

Shamrock Measuring Tape:

Students will color, cut out and glue together a shamrock measuring tape. They will then use it to measure items of their choice around the room - Super Fun!

How Many Leprechauns Tall Are You?:

With the help of a friend, students will measure how many leprechauns tall they are. This is a great display to place in the hallway... kids all around the school will be using it to see how they measure up! Younger kiddos will then record it on a recording page and draw a picture of themselves to match. These pages, along with the hallway poster, make an adorable class book!

Wee Little Leprechaun:

This is a printable activity with a ruler printed at the bottom of the page. Students cut off the ruler and use it to measure different parts of the leprechaun. Students are asked to measure to the nearest half-inch.

Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
