Description

This editable PowerPoint presentation and corresponding foldable are perfect for teaching square and cube roots! The foldable is designed for standalone use or as part of an interactive mathematics notebook for students to keep all their notes. This resource features vocabulary, tables for the first 20 squares and 10 cubes, area and volume models, and vertical number lines. Presenting the information in multiple ways, showing the connections between each, will help students retain the lesson and be able to apply it in multiple ways. Photos of the foldable filled out are attached at the end of the PowerPoint.

I have used this when introducing 6th graders to exponents and square/cube roots and with 8th graders to review square/cube roots. The vertical number line is EXTREMELY helpful as a reference when estimating irrational roots in 8th grade.

Using this as a recording sheet for hands-on exploration of squares and cubes using area and volume models and manipulatives also makes for a fun, interactive lesson!
