Description

A digital activity on Google Sheets that requires the student to correctly fill out each question on the right of the page. If the answer is correct, the side bar turns from red to green and a part of the mystery pixel image begins to appear. If all questions are correct, the whole picture will reveal itself.

This is meant to be a self graded, fun, practice opportunity for students with a beloved relevant character in many children's lives. It is best to have students zoom out of the picture a bit (50% - 75%) on some devices as the size of the screen on devices such as Chromebooks can make it appear much smaller at 100%

______________________________________________________________________________________________

It is recommended that when you assign the activity, remove "SpyXFamily" or any other identifying features in the title (or otherwise) if you prefer students to be completely oblivious to what the pixel art image may be. So it does not give away the surprise if that is your preference. When you purchase this product, the 2 page PDF you will be provided will have a blue hyperlink for you to click on that will then have you make a copy of this document to your google drive. Do not share this document with anyone that is not one of your assigned students that are completing the lesson, pass off as your own, or upload to any other drive or service for any other purpose. This is meant to be used solely by the person purchasing this product and their class/students.

Thank You!

I do NOT own the SpyXFamily brand name nor do I pretend to. All rights and credit go to the true SpyXFamily brand. I use the image of Anya (which I had to recreate myself pixel by pixel) to purely enhance a child's learning experience since Anya is a beloved icon for many students alike.

Interpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator (𝘒/𝘣 = 𝘒 ÷ 𝘣). Solve word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. For example, interpret 3/4 as the result of dividing 3 by 4, noting that 3/4 multiplied by 4 equals 3, and that when 3 wholes are shared equally among 4 people each person has a share of size 3/4. If 9 people want to share a 50-pound sack of rice equally by weight, how many pounds of rice should each person get? Between what two whole numbers does your answer lie?
Interpret the product (𝘒/𝘣) Γ— 𝘲 as a parts of a partition of 𝘲 into 𝘣 equal parts; equivalently, as the result of a sequence of operations 𝘒 Γ— 𝘲 Γ· 𝘣. For example, use a visual fraction model to show (2/3) Γ— 4 = 8/3, and create a story context for this equation. Do the same with (2/3) Γ— (4/5) = 8/15. (In general, (𝘒/𝘣) Γ— (𝘀/π˜₯) = 𝘒𝘀/𝘣π˜₯.)
Interpret division of a whole number by a unit fraction, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for 4 Γ· (1/5), and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that 4 Γ· (1/5) = 20 because 20 Γ— (1/5) = 4.
Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving division of fractions by fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, create a story context for (2/3) Γ· (3/4) and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient; use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (2/3) Γ· (3/4) = 8/9 because 3/4 of 8/9 is 2/3. (In general, (𝘒/𝘣) Γ· (𝘀/π˜₯) = 𝘒π˜₯/𝘣𝘀.) How much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many 3/4-cup servings are in 2/3 of a cup of yogurt? How wide is a rectangular strip of land with length 3/4 mi and area 1/2 square mi?
