The Engineering Design Process (Realia Not Available)

I. Nursery Rhymes From the Farm

This is the first of the STEAM Challenges and Tinker Task from the Farm Unit. It includes the Farmer In the Dell and other rhymes that include the same animals. Each day the educator should be reading one or several rhymes from the farm. The rhymes are a fun way to introduce the people, places and things found on a farm. The rhymes provide students with the background information needed to engage in meaningful Tinker Task and STEAM challenges.

II. Anchor Charts

The anchor charts have been provided for the teacher to use at her digression. This tool can be used to teach the whole group, small groups or individuals. The educator can also put them all together and make a book. She can laminate them and place them into a folder, sheet holder or hang on the walls of their Maker Spaces and made available for children to use. They can even be taken to a printer and made larger.possibilities are endless.

III. STEAM Journal (Differentiated)

( Full Color, Soft Color,Black and White, and Clip Art.)

This item allows students to document their feelings throughout the Engineering Design Process. It may be used together with the

S. T. E. A. M. Portfolios. Students can receive and complete this book all at once or receive pages the teacher selects and complete daily. The teacher has many choices.

IV. STEAM Portfolio (Differentiated)

This Portfolio is be used to showcase student’s use of the Engineering Design Process. The templates in this portfolio have been created to slowly guide students through each step of the process. It may be used alongside the STEAM journal or in isolation.

V. Tinker Task Cards

(Full Color, Soft Color,Black and White, and Clip Art and Realia.)

Task cards can be laminated, printed out and cut. They can be placed on a small circle, in a stack with a rubber band around it or in a tray with small compartments. They may be used as a visual in a lesson or when students are ready for a challenge or tinker.
