Description
A handy set of 6 black and white NO PREP differentiated word puzzles with picture clues with a spring theme. Great for a spring project or for practising seasonal vocabulary. Good for EFL / ESL too. Includes word search, cross scramble, word path, codebreaker, missing letters and acrostic. All puzzles are provided in two versions to allow differentiation in the classroom plus a vocabulary handout for reference. Answer keys are included. Easy to use – just print and go. Handy for fast finishers or substitute lessons.
This puzzle set uses 39 spring words. If you feel that these puzzles might be too hard for your class, you might prefer Spring Puzzles (simpler version) which uses 21 words. The two sets can also be bought together as a Spring Puzzle Bundle at a saving of 20%. For more of a challenge, take a look at Spring Crossword, Word Search and More Puzzles or the Harder Version, both of which use written clues.
The 39 words included in these puzzles are: flowers, plant, tree, leaf, grass, daisy, tulip, daffodil, seeds, roots, bud, lamb, frog, chick, bird, groundhog, rabbit, egg, nest, hatch, caterpillar, butterfly, bee, worm, snail, sun, rain, cloud, rainbow, raindrop, puddle, umbrella, raincoat, boots, watering can, pot, wheelbarrow, kite and picnic. Each puzzle uses a selection of the words.
Pack contents
1. Picture word search – the easier version has both word and picture clues, the other just the pictures.
2. Cross scramble – a crossword and word scramble combined in one puzzle. Each crossword clue is a word scramble where the letters must be rearranged to fill in the crossword grid. Pictures are also given as an extra hint. The easier version has the first letter of each word already in the grid.
3. Word path – help Hen find the way to her chicks by drawing a line through the letter grid, spelling out the words for the pictures given. The easier version has the first letter of each word shown in bold.
4. Codebreaker puzzle – version one gives a full key to the letters but version two only gives some of the letters and this information must be used along with the pictures to work out the remaining letters. The completed words are then matched to the correct pictures.
5. Missing letters puzzle – the easier one has only the vowels missing, the other has every second letter missing. The words are then matched to the correct picture.
6. Picture acrostic – fill in the words across the page to reveal a hidden word written downwards. The easier version has the first letter of each word already in the grid.
7. Vocabulary handout
