What educators are saying

The students had so much fun using the components of this resource while we were hatching our own eggs in an incubator. It allowed them to get a real-life example of what it means to incubate an egg. The most fun though was the chick birth certificates!
A great resource that helps to supplement the skills taught in my class and it is a great exit ticket to see the mastery of the lesson.

Description

Students can simulate an incubation and hatch their very own spring egg on their chair with this fun spring/easter activity! Your students will "adopt" their own baby chick after they warm and incubate their very own egg on their chair for a chosen amount of time. This activity resource has EVERYTHING you need to quickly and easily start this activity!

Your students will choose their very own unique spring egg (over 94 egg choices to choose from: 62 colorful designs, and 32 black and white choices to color in themselves!) You can tape the egg to the bottom of their chair seat (see picture example in cover) and discuss the importance of student sitting in their chairs properly and carefully to incubate their eggs. After a certain amount of time (your choice- for a day, a week, over spring break, or over multiple weeks!) you can have your students eggs' "hatch" with a baby chick left in its place! (Color and B&W paper baby chicks are included, or you can use mini chenille chicks, marshmallow chicks, or chick cookies, or a combination of them all!)

After hatching their chicks, your students can record their experience with a variety of differentiated drawing/writing pages or mini book. There is also a baby chick writing craftivity included to write about and color, cut out, and attach to a reflection writing page of your choice!

Finally, you can have students really feel like they are adopting a real baby chick with a color and b&w baby chick adoption or birth certificate for them to fill out and customize while naming their baby chicks!

Included:

  • instructions & suggestions
  • 94 unique egg template choices: (62 color and 32 b&w + blank template!)
  • Baby chick template (color and b&w)
  • Differentiated writing & recording pages for egg & chick stages
  • Student recording mini book for egg & chick
  • Chick egg writing craftivity with differentiated writing activity
  • Baby chick adoption/birth certificates
