Spreadsheet Class Starter

Make Students Write their own Formulas!! This activity consists of 5 simple worksheets in 1 workbook (Excel) where students have to write their own formulas with no directions. After I have explained simple formulas and basic functions to students, I use this as a reinforcement activity. At the beginning of each period, I put up one worksheet on my Smart Board and have students supply formulas to solve the problem. GREAT CLASS STARTER! Problem topics include: Family Camping Trip, Let's Go Shopping, Cost to Paint this House, Points in a Basketball Game, and What is my Paycheck. After each worksheet we have quality in-class discussion on writing the correct formulas. I have students submit all 5 sheets as on assignment (Book), which makes grading simple.

Spreadsheet formulas include: Simple Cell Reference, Sum and Average Functions, Absolute Cell References

This assignment assumes you've already taught the students spreadsheet basics including formulas. It does not teach them how to write a formula! It could be used for either Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Assignment could also be used as an end of unit evaluation tool. Zipped file also includes an Excel Answer File
