Spelling Grids | Grade 5 | Spelling For The Whole Year

Spelling doesn't need to be complicated: Grade 5 Spelling Grids provides everything you'll need. With 360 words per year group broken down into weekly tests, allocate pupils into the easier group or the harder group and away you go!

This eco-friendly scheme of work only requires one page to be printed per child every six weeks, which is an enormous save on paper compared to weekly spelling printouts!

Instructions:

• Photocopy and hand out the 1st spelling table to all (each one lasts for 6 weeks)
• Allocate children into easier or harder groups (spelling test once a week)
• The passmark is 4/6 for the easier group and 7/10 for the harder group
• Hand out certificates after each spelling table (and repeat with the next table!)

Spelling Grids provides words for a easier and harder set to learn each week at home. The words will be tested each week at a set time by their teacher. The words get progressively harder throughout the course of the year and each word has been carefully selected to ensure that it is at the right level and appropriate.

Grade 5 Spelling Grids has taken words with the following sounds:

Spelling Table 1 (Weeks 1 - 6) = ch-, -ch-, ex-, -dge-, -ph-, -gh

Spelling Table 2 (Weeks 7 - 12) = -ght, c-, -ce, -or, -our, -tion

Spelling Table 3 (Weeks 13 - 18) = -ure, -tion, -our, -sion, -ie-, -ssion

Spelling Table 4 (Weeks 19 - 24) = -ie-, -sion, -ce-, cs-, -ous, trans-

Spelling Table 5 (Weeks 25 - 30) = bi-, aero-, tele-, auto-, -ic, -ly

Spelling Table 6 (Weeks 31 - 36) = -ship, -hood, -ful, -ness, -ions, -ing

Also included is a spelling test tracker which allows teachers to keep track of spelling test results. This is really useful when it comes to report writing and parents evenings.
