This 3-page file includes
~A reading about a birthday celebration! Much of the reading is in the present progressive tense (estar + gerund). It talks about what everyone in the family is doing during the celebration. Also discussed is the significance of the piñata in Mexican celebrations. Reading includes a glossary of new words and is followed by six true/false questions in Spanish for reading comprehension.
~The same reading with the verbs highlighted for students to see in context.
~Answer key.
Activity ideas: Have students underline all the forms of present progressive they find in the reading. Bring in some party pictures and have students explain what is happening using the present progressive tense.
