Spanish Past Tense Preterite Fun Reading Activity Sub Plan

What educators are saying
Description
This is a three-page activity that centers on the skills of reading and writing in Spanish.
This reading includes sections of both present tense and past tense preterite (Ir in the preterite and regular er/ar/ir verbs).
The premise is based on students reading some online profiles (teacher written :) ) of some potential matches for Marta.
Students love the idea of match-making and they'll be reading and writing in Spanish while doing it.
This is best for 8th grade-high school First, students will read about Marta in the present tense.
Then they will read the blogs of what three men did the previous day (past tense). Students will then answer some true/false questions about the reading. They will next answer some questions about the reading and decide which man is best for Marta. On the next page, students will make up their own profile "ad."
Be sure you know your students well when doing this, and that they aren't going to write something inappropriate.
My own students loved doing this.
The directions for this activity and the reading comprehension questions following the true/false questions are in ENGLISH. This is based on Laura Terril's (national world language consultant) research-based assertion that reading comprehension questions should not be in the same language as the reading passage itself.
*The answer key at the end is for the true/false section only because the short answer questions will vary. This activity can be done as a class time activity, a homework assignment, or for sub plans while you're going to be absent. The level for this is most likely late level 1 Spanish or level 2. Enjoy!
