Description
This is a pre-test that I designed to give during the first week of school to my Spanish 3 students. It checks for understanding/retention of the concepts presented in Realidades 1 and 2, and gives me an idea of which concepts are "fuzzy" for students. In this way, it is a useful diagnostic tool to tailor your review (Para Empezar) to your students' needs. It also helps to identify EARLY in the year which students are likely to struggle, or do not remember much from previous years. Of course, if you do not want to give it as a true "pre-test," you could always use it as a review! :)
Section 1: five open-ended questions; they are asked to respond in complete sentences (Ex.: ¿Cómo te llamas, y cuántos años tienes? ¿Participas en algunas actividades extracurriculares? etc.)
Section 2: asks students to recall the endings for regular verbs in the preterite, as well as four major irregular preterite verbs (ir/ser, poder, estar, hacer)
Section 3: asks students to describe, in their own words (in English), the difference between preterite and imperfect
Section 4: asks students to recall the endings for regular verbs in the imperfect, plus the forms of ir, ser, and ver
Section 5: miscellaneous; asks students to give an example of a reflexive verb/explain what a reflexive verb is, a question about how gustar works, etc.
