Description

Engage your AP and diverse learners alike with "Southern Gothic Literature" resource pack! Perfectly tailored for high school AP classes and adaptable for varying student abilities.

  • 31 slides to introduce the genre and provide examples, including a choiceboard
  • 2 page graphic organizer, answer keys for all 5 stories
Ready for seamless integration into your Google Classroom or preferred Learning Management System (LMS), this resource is a comprehensive toolkit for a rich and engaging exploration of literature from William Faulkner, Flannery O'Conner, Harper Lee, Robert Penn Warren, Eudora Welty, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and John Berendt, and Shirley Jackson.
  • 5 short stories; includes linked audio for multi-modal learners and to allow all learners to access the material.

My students love exploring this genre! Help your students become more analytical readers and give them a choice of story to read. I have successfully used "The Yellow Wallpaper" with the entire class to model completing the graphic organizer and as an introduction to this genre and then have allowed students to choose a story on their own or in pairs (depending on the student's preference and their need) to read and analyze.
