Sorting Mats and Charts For Kindergarten Math

Have you ever thought about the importance of sorting? Sorting is an important and essential part of beginning mathematical skills and development for Preschool and Kindergarten students. Children need to be able to describe attributes, matching, sorting, comparing and ordering. These sorting button mats help children sort by common attributes like color, shape, size and how things looks. When they are doing sorting activities, they are choosing similar attributes. Classifying and sorting help Preschool and Kindergarten students develop thinking skills and build a foundation for later problem solving in math.

    >This includes 2 Charts that are also included in my chart bundle.

These sorting mats can me used whole group, during a small group or intervention or as a math sorting center.

Kindergarten and Preschool students love to dig through buttons. I love that my grandmother’s button collection is so loved by my students.
