Looking for songs, activities, and ideas for teaching whole note? This 78-page product includes:
*Six folk songs for teaching whole note, with notation and game/dance directions when applicable ("Au Claire de la lune," "All through the night," "Father's house," "I got a letter," "Old Texas," "Water come a me eye")

*Rhythm match game (8 pairs/ 16 cards with directions; helps students remember the names of the rhythms, like whole note, half note, etc.)
*Rhythmic flashcards for whole note: Each page comes with two flashcards, which can be printed onto cardstock, cut into two (on the solid line), and laminated for frequent use. The set comes with 12 rhythmic patterns; and can be used for reading practice, composition, instrument playing, transitions, and more!

Prior Knowledge: It is assumed that the students know sixteenth notes, eighth notes, quarter note, half note, and quarter rest (tika-tika, ti-ti, ta, two, and rest) prior to this unit. The rhythm match game also has half rests and whole rests, but if you have not taught those yet, you could simply take those cards out of the game.
