Song Memoir Writing Assignment

Grades 6-12; English class OR Music class (Writing across the curriculum!)
Everyone has a song that brings them back to a special memory. This assignment requires students to write a memoir that is remembered when they hear a song. Even the most hesitant writers will enjoy this assignment, and teachers will enjoy learning about students' lives.

Although this can be used at any time throughout the year, I recommend using it towards the beginning to get to know students.
