What educators are saying

This was a very challenging assignment for most of my 8th grade math students. However, I used it with my middle school students who are taking a high school math class and they found it very engaging.
My students had fun while graphing lines that went through zombies!!! They were trying to guess which one was the next one they were gonna draw a line through.

All 7 systems are in Slope Intercept Form and Designed to be solved by Graphing

How It Works

Students are given a graph with 9 zombies on it and 7 systems in slope-intercept form. Students will cut out each system and graph the system on the zombie graph. They will then glue the system next to the zombie that it “killed”. Zombies are “killed” when the solution to the system is on any part of their body. Precision is key in this activity as each system should only “kill” 1 zombie. If a system “kills” more than 1 zombie the student was not precise enough. 2 of the zombies will not be killed by a system.

Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Understand that solutions to a system of two linear equations in two variables correspond to points of intersection of their graphs, because points of intersection satisfy both equations simultaneously.
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 5 and 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 6 have no solution because 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
Solve systems of linear equations exactly and approximately (e.g., with graphs), focusing on pairs of linear equations in two variables.
