What educators are saying

I love partner activities -- students can self check and problem solve together. It creates great discussions with students.

Description

Looking for an engaging activity to practice solving exponential equations? These self-checking partner worksheets will have students solve exponential equations that have a common base. This assignment also encourages students to work collaboratively, engage in discussion, and check their work. Assign this activity with no prep from you, and watch as your students receive immediate feedback while they practice their skills!

How it works:

  • Assign students a partner and have them choose who will complete column A and column B
  • Students will work on their own unique problems, and compare their answers with their partner. If the solutions are the same, they are correct and may move on. If they disagree, have them trade papers and check each other’s work.

Content features:

Version A

  • Students will solve exponential equations with a common base
  • Questions will require students to use exponent rules such as: product rule, negative exponent rule, and zero exponent rule
  • Only a few questions will require students to rewrite a term to show the common base

Version B

  • Students will solve exponential equations with a common base
  • Questions will require students to use exponent rules such as: product rule, zero exponent rule, identity rule, quotient rule, negative exponent rule, and power of a power rule.

This Solving Exponential Equations resource is a downloadable PDF that includes:

  • TWO partner worksheets, each with 9 questions per student
  • Recording sheet for students who would like more space to show their work
  • All answer keys

Are your students tired of boring worksheets? This resource is great to assign for additional practice. It also makes a great activity to leave with a substitute since students will be able to check their work! These solving exponential worksheet partner worksheets promote discussion among partners and encourage students to check for their mistakes.

The best part? These two sets of worksheets are differentiated for you! You can assign both versions to double the practice as students strengthen their skills, modify work for classes at different levels, or assign to specific students to meet their individual needs.
