Description

This is a project-based assessment over solving equations. The student is given choice of which type of equations (one-step, two-step, distributive property, combining like terms, distributive property with combining like terms, variables on both sides, variables on both sides with distributive property and/or combining like terms, and literal equations) they would like to demonstrate how to solve. They write and solve their own equations on a poster board and note the steps they are using as well. Different types of equations have different point values depending upon difficulty. The student tries to add their points up to 100 (or more if you allow extra credit).

This project can be finished in one class period if the students are prepared with the directions and the materials. Complete directions and an example are provided for the student as well as a grading rubric. Download the preview to see a completed example. 4 pages
