Description
Do you need a fun and engaging activity for Black History Month or Women's History Month? Are you preparing your class to read a piece of literature by Sojourner Truth? Then look no further!
This low prep Sojourner Truth Escape Room offers an exciting blend of activities, including close reading, comprehension skills, deciphering secret codes, movement, and critical thinking! It's an excellent addition to your lesson plans for February or March.
What’s Included:
✅ Reading Passage
✅ Four Stations
✅ Teacher Guide
✅ Answer Key
✅ Student Directions
✅ Text Marking Option
✅ Finished Task Signs
Students will engage with the non-fiction reading passage multiple times as they tackle various challenges. The activity involves students moving around the classroom to four different stations. At each station, they'll discover a clue necessary to decipher the final code, motivating them to complete all tasks.
To ensure comprehension, students will answer questions directly related to the reading passage. No prior knowledge is required, making it an ideal introductory activity that familiarizes students with key vocabulary, figures, places, or events relevant to your unit.
Working in pairs or individually, students will race to complete all four stations, adding an element of friendly competition to boost engagement. By reading the informational text, answering questions, and uncovering letter clues, students will ultimately decode the final four-digit combination.
You do NOT need a lock! There is no extra preparation. You just need to print the activity and place the station cards around the room.
If you would like to save paper, you only need to print the station cards one time (you may choose to laminate them for repeated use). Students will record their answers on individual answer recording sheets.
