What educators are saying

My students loved playing this, especially for a snack as the prize! What a great way to reinforce soft skills. Thank you.
I used this activity with my class of seniors. They really liked it and helped them remember which skills are considered soft skills.

Description

Teaching students Soft Skills through the game of Bingo!

This bingo game incorporates every day soft skills phrases and words WITH definitions! There are 25 soft skills, such as "Initiative", "Prompt", "Self-awareness", "Adaptability", "Professionalism", etc. Each bingo space has a soft skill in bold at the top, with it's definition below for students to read and learn. This is a great activity to use to cover careers, character education, job skills, personality traits, transferable skills, etc.

This is a set of 30 Bingo cards and a list of the call words. Each card uses all 25 words.

This word document is 31 pages total; the last page is the list of calling words. There is one bingo card per page. THE DOCUMENT IS EDITABLE, so you can change phrases or words to suit your age or needs. I printed these cards two to a page, choosing the option '2 pages per sheet' in my printer settings.

The game can be taught in a variety of ways:
- Simply call the word, and the students find the word on their card and can read the definition on their own.
- Call out only a definition, and the students will have to find it on their card to mark the phrase/word.

I write the word on the board as I call it out loud, so that my lower level students are able to see the spelling to look for the word. This method accommodates to more visual learning styles. It also allows me to keep track of the words I have called, and refer back to the board to check if the student has a true Bingo. I then erase the words as we start new rounds and 'clear our cards'.

This is a fun, easy way to teach students how important it is to have soft skills to be successful not only at work, but in life! People are not born with or without a soft skill; it is something we learn and hone.
