Description

This resource was designed for the HSB4U course, and works for any intro to sociology, anthropology, and psychology course, such as HSP3M. Students work in groups to analyze a "protest" song. Students answer guided questions about the change the song aims to produce, and what a SAP perspective would have to say about it. Song suggestions included are a mix of modern songs from popular artists, to more "traditional" 1960s protest songs. This activity is aimed at applying their learning, and prior knowledge of what sociologists, anthropologists, and psychologists study is required. This is a highly engaging lesson and encourages close reading of lyrics and application of learning.
