Who Are These Stories For?

Theses stories are great to build social skills of your special education students. Children who have ASD, social/emotional challenges and more, will benefit from such stories.

Many teachers also enjoy using these stories with their whole class as well as specific children who are struggling with a particular concept, as a reminder of social rules and etiquette.

These stories were written to support students in 3rd-5th grade or ability level.

When/How Do I Use These Stories?

✅ These stories are great to use with special education students {or regular education students} to teach and support social skills that you think they may struggle with either before or during that struggle. They are great to use after a vacation for a reminder on how and why to use particular social skills in school.

✅ 1:1: Read these stories with students 1:1, who are struggling with a particular social skill. Complete the activities together and discuss. Give a copy of the story to any support staff to review with the student, as needed.

✅ Small Groups: Read these stories with students in small group session, who are struggling with a particular social skill and/or as a means to teach the skill. Complete the activities together and discuss.

✅ Large Groups: Read these stories with your classroom for an SEL lesson, if they are struggling with a particular social skill and/or as a means to teach the skill. Complete the activities together by going over them verbally, displaying them on a SMART board or making enough copies for everyone and discuss.

✅ In-Person Teaching: Print the stories on card stock and bind. Keep in your library and or give to individual students. Read individually or to the whole group. Some teachers like to project the story on their white boards while they read it.

✅ Remote Teaching: You can send any of these stories home to students, for individual use. Even though my Terms of Use say for one user only, during the school closure and the pandemic, my resources may be sent home {please, no posting on school websites or other public sites}.

To use remotely, open your story of choice and share your screen with your student(s). Together, you can read the story and complete the activities.
