Description

These digital interactive Boom Cards™ are hosted on Boom Learning℠ and focus on the difference between expected vs unexpected behaviours.

This social skills activity is targeted at assisting children to develop their understanding of expected and unexpected behaviours. It guides children through a series of 20 scenarios, prompting them to select the 'expected' behaviour from four choices. They are then guided to choose possible emotions others may feel as a result of this expected behaviour. The last step prompts them to think about the outcome of this behaviour.

You will get a Boom Card Deck comprising:

  • 20 interactive task cards
  • 2 task cards describing expected and unexpected behaviours
  • In total this adds up to a 22 card deck

How does it work?

  1. Students will click on a card and read the scenario
  2. They are then prompted to chose the 'expected behaviour' for 1 of 4 answers
  3. Next, they select two emotions others may feel as a result of the behaviour
  4. Lastly, they are prompted to type what they think may be an outcome of their choice.
  5. Answers are instantly graded (except for the written component) and they can then move on to the next card
  6. Simple!

These slides can be completed independently or alongside the therapist, teacher or parent as a guided learning exercise with discussion to delve more deeply in the concepts. Note: the written component is optional - as it is not graded, therefore this can be skipped if you choose!

Please note: this is a digitised variation of my existing resource:

It is formulated differently but includes the same scenarios.
