Description

Social media is constantly changing -- it can be difficult to even keep up with which apps our students are using each year. Regardless of the application, the dangers and common mistakes that students make on social media carry over from app to app.

This unit uses group discussions and individual worksheets to address some of the most common mistakes that our students make on social media including:

  1. Liking too much
  2. Commenting too much
  3. Sending/accepting direct messages
  4. Adding inappropriate photos and/or information
  5. Sharing/posting  inappropriate content
  6. Understanding the use of sarcasm
  7. Feeling the illusion of privacy on social media
  8. Accepting/friending strangers
  9. Catfishing
  10. Bullying on social media

The purpose of this unit is to provide you with a platform to address some of the safety concerns we see for students when they are using social media.

  • This unit can be completed 1:1 with students or in a small group.
  • This unit can be completed in its entirety over a couple of days or you can use each of the ten common mistakes that students make on social media as they come up with your students or in your classroom.
