Social Emotional Task Cards and Journal for Kindergarten

Social Emotional learning is incredibly important in creating a safe space for students, especially this school year. With students returning to instruction, in-person and virtually, we must create opportunities to talk about diversity, community, empathy, emotions, and peer relationships (even from a distance). These SEL journals allow teachers to follow along without a full lesson while still engaging in social-emotional conversations daily or weekly.

There are wonderful curriculums online that are available for teachers but it can be difficult to set aside a whole period of time daily to teach a full lesson. Follow along with this journal as an additional workspace/journal or use the newly added task cards as daily prompts to have conversations!

• Print and use as a written journal response. Kindergarteners can draw and practice how to label their drawings (the beginning stages of writing).
• Use digitally where students can type or draw directly on the journal slides using their device. Families can also snap a photo of their work on paper and paste it into the digital journal.
• Tweak the order of prompts or delete prompts you plan to skip. You decide which conversations are best to tap into for your class.
• Use question prompts for independent classwork or homework activities.
• Use task cards as morning meeting discussion cards.
