What educators are saying

This really helped teach some of the tougher reading standards! Great resource, as usual, from Remedia Publications.
These were amazing. I needed a good reading based curriculum to go with my "real-world" reading unit and these were perfect!

Description

Improve Social & Emotional Skills (SEL) while ALSO Improving Reading Comprehension!

Is listening better than talking? Is nonverbal behavior important?

Real-life scenarios and sticky social situations challenge students to learn about themselves and the consequences of behaviors such as: losing their temper, bullying, feeling awkward around others, not making eye contact, talking too much, and more.
They also learn the value of being a good friend, first impressions, apologizing, compromising, and tone of voice.

Teens and ‘Experts’ offer helpful advice through text messages and keep things light-hearted and non-threatening. A great way to improve students’ everyday social skills while also improving their reading comprehension!

Each high-interest reading passage is followed by standards-based reading comprehension questions and sentence writing activities. Additional activities encourage students to 'look within' and relate each scenario to themselves and their own daily actions. Finally, students decide how they might better handle each social situation in the future. A great way to improve everyday social skills while also targeting key reading standards!
