What Do the lessons look like?

Each lesson comes in one PDF (with everything for that lesson included in one file). The main component is the social story game in each lesson which gives students different scenarios based on the skill being worked on.  For the social story games, students will need to decide if they show a thumbs up card (or use their own thumb) or a thumbs down card for yes/no responses.

EACH social story game comes with:

• 1 SHORT introduction & closing about the skill covered 
• 20-30 (approx.) story game pages of different scenarios related to the skill being worked on. Students will use their thumb cards to show responses
• 2 Related printable activity sheet (one story to cut apart, color and staple back together and a related printable activity based on the skill taught)
• 1 Transition Activity to close the lesson
• 1 Extended Learning Idea to casually embed throughout the week.

EACH social story game WITH PUPPETS includes:

• 1 puppet video lessons (about 5-8 mins each)
• 1 social game story game with scenarios related to the social emotional topic being taught(approx. 10-20 game pages). Students will use the the thumb cards for responses or their own thumbs.

What are the UNIQUE puppet videos?

Meet Tommy(puppet)!  He will share an engaging story about the skill being worked on. In the product there will be a link to click on to view the puppet video.  Videos are approximately 5-8 minutes. This is done through VIMEO (ad free and you do not need an account to view) and will require the internet. If you want to preview the video ahead of time you can do so by going to each individual product (link listed in each product).

How should I teach each lesson?

1. Read the social story game  or watch puppet video(first) on a DIGITAL DEVICE used as PDF or you can print it out. Students will show you the thumbs up or thumbs down cards for yes/no responses.
2. Have students complete the  printable activity. If it is a puppet video you will have discussion questions instead of a printable activity sheet.
3. Complete the transition activity
4. Have students complete printable activities (1 or 2)
5. Use the extended learning ”idea” for the rest of the week up to a year to build on this lesson.
6. Hand out "The Best Of Me" Awards when you see students giving "The Best Of Me" throughout the week/year.

Does this curriculum celebrate differences?

Yes!  Diversity and inclusion are a big part of my curriculum and are displayed in the units through:

• variety of race and ethnicity represented in clip art and real life pictures ( e.g cultural names, clothing, family structure, traditions etc.)
• sensitivity to cultural activities that may not be representative to all cultures. 

Does it come in black and white?

This lesson comes in color. It is important for students to see diversity in the scenarios and color allows this. I recommend viewing it as a PDF or printing in color.  However, the printable activities DO come in black & white.
