What educators are saying

I love using this as morning work and being able to check in on my students regularly without other students seeing.
This has become a great resource for my classroom. I use it at the end of each week to check in with students.

Description

Looking for a quick and easy way to check in with students? This resource is the perfect social emotional learning activity for your classroom.

Our students are coming into our classrooms struggling with more than ever these days. This journal is a quick and easy social emotional learning activity to see how your students are feeling.

This resource is an easy addition any social-emotional learning curriculum you have in your classroom. Students have space to journal about how they are feeling about the day (from a word bank of feelings to choose from), set a goal to work on that day, and a space to take a moment to focus on what they are grateful for.

The first section of the daily journal has students set a goal to work on for the day. This goal can be something as simple as "I'm working on staying on task" or "I'm working on being nice to others." Setting a quick and simple goal for the day means it's a tangible goal for students and not overwhelming.

The next section of the daily journal is the "I'm feeling..." section. This section has a word bank of emotions/feelings for students to choose from. Too often, we end up describing how we are feeling instead of using actual feelings to describe what we are experiencing. Knowing how a student feels means we can tailor our support to meet their needs.

The final section of the daily journal has a space for students to write down what they are thankful for. Studies show that gratitude can rewire the brain and this journal provides the space for students to practice a little gratitude.

There is a daily check in page for each day of the week, including weekends, as well as a weekly check in page. The weekly check in page has a section for students to record their highs and lows of the week, as well as a place for some more gratitude.

You can print this journal off daily, weekly, or print enough for 10 weeks! There are 10 versions of the daily/weekly check-ins. You can print one version, mix and match or print them all!

**This resource now includes an EDITABLE journal cover page! There is a document that allows you to type in your class list and then it will populate individual cover pages for you!
