Snowman Measuring Measurement Activity
What educators are saying
Description
This Snowman Measuring math center gives your students experience with measuring items with different non-standard measuring tools. There are instructions and recording sheets for 6 different measuring tools, so you can choose the 4 measuring tools that work best for your classroom. Choose from cubes, paper clips, buttons, marshmallows, erasers, and cotton balls. There are 4 snowmen that your students will measure with each of the 4 tools you choose.
There are 2 ways you can choose to use this center:
1. Place all 4 snowmen and all 4 sets of measuring tools at the same table. Students will choose a snowman to measure and a material to measure with. They will line up the materials next to the snowman they are measuring, and record how long the snowman is using that tool. Then they will continue to measure and record how long each snowman is with each of the different materials.
2. Place the 4 different measuring materials and 4 snowmen at 4 tables.
Students will measure all 4 of the snowmen with the materials at that table, and then they will move to another table to measure with another measuring tool. They are finished when they have completed the recording sheet.
