What educators are saying

Used this as an impromptu, snowy day lesson in an early elem. library class. The kids enjoyed the mini lesson while a blizzard crept in on us. "He melted from standing by something too hot"
Just what I was looking for to use with my students in the classroom! Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating an amazing resource :)

Description

Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright is a fun winter book. It is about a snowman that wants to keep warm.

This unit has a melted snowman craftivity that encourages students to use their creativity and write something Sneezy should not do.

*All melted snowman patterns are included. Copy on colored paper or have students color the pieces.

Also included in this unit is a response journal. There are 19 possible page choices. You choose the ones that best suit the needs of your students (I usually choose about 4 pages for the journals).

Included in the journal pages are:

*Journal Cover

*Title, Author, Characters, Setting—with optional pieces for students to glue in correct area

*Creativity—Design a snowman. Write two things a snowman needs.

*Sorting—Things that are hot and things that are cold

*Beginning, Middle, End—Students can draw and write their response or glue correct words in BME sections.

*Text to Self Connection—What do you do to keep warm?

*Text to Self Connection—What is a way you help others?

*Character Web of Sneezy.

*Making Predictions—What will Sneezy do next?

*Write a Friendly Letter to Sneezy.

*Draw and label other items that are cold.

*Sequence 6 events from the story (words and pictures)

*Make a list of things that will melt a snowman.

*Venn Diagram—Compare Sneezy to a real snowman.

*Cause and Effect—the cause is given; the student must draw and write the effect.
