Description

Introduce or review key terms related to slope and angle: slope, grade, pitch, cardinal direction, slope angle, angle of depression/declination, and angle of elevation/inclination. This four-way matching activity asks students to match the term with the definition, diagram, and example.

The puzzles are black and white for easy printing. To prepare, print the pages corresponding to the items you select and separate the pieces. Choose the jigsaw version for visual interest or the easy-cut version for quick prep. Printing on cardstock and/or laminating will help the puzzles last longer for repeated use.

Alternatively, print 4 terms per page for puzzles that easily fit into notebooks as a sort and paste activity.

The puzzles can also be used to randomly assign students to groups (e.g. team “Pitch”), as word wall items, or during other classroom activities.

Originally created for Ontario's MPM2D, this presentation is also suitable for MFM2P, MBF3C, and other secondary course working with angles, slopes, and their applications. * Please see the thumbnails/preview to make sure this product is right for you and your students *
