Description
Sing, Unburied, Sing FULL UNIT -- a growing bundle of resources!
This growing reading & writing unit for Sing, Unburied, Sing focuses on tracking and analyzing motifs. The questions and activities also strive to teach students to have empathy for unlikeable characters, to understand how context and societal factors influence peoples' decisions, and how to grapple with difficult topics like systemic racism and police brutality.
This unit is accessible to several grades and levels, and I often use these materials with reluctant high school readers. The guided reading and in-class activities are designed to scaffold high-level thinking and analysis with this often challenging text.
This unit bundle includes over 90 pages and slides:
1. Virtual Gallery Walk (3 lessons)
2. Guided Reading Questions & Motif Tracking Notes for students
3. Pre-reading epigraph worksheet
4. Chapter 1 First Page Close Reading
5. Chapter 1 Character Analysis Jigsaw Activity
6. Chapter 2 Plot Review Jigsaw
7. Chapter 1-2 Leonie Character Analysis Activity
