Description
Are you looking for an engaging center to help your first and second grade children tap, blend, read, and write words with the v-e spelling pattern? This activity has 50 words with pictures in 5 sets for children to work on at a center. It can be done independently, with you in a small group, or with a partner. It also includes a few words with digraphs and blends.
Children will use the touch dots under each phoneme to tap, blend, and read the words. The silent e has no dot and is gray to remind children it makes no sound. Then they will find the picture to match the word and place it in the box on the mat. The mats are color-coded to match the pictures that belong on that mat. This makes it easy to divide the resource into sets. There is also a recording sheet so children can write the words from their mats and illustrate them their own way.
This resource covers the following standards: CCSS RF.1.3 RF.1.3c, RF.2.3; TEKS LA.1.2.B.iii, LA.2.2.B.iii; VASOL R.2.4.b
