Description

Looking for a culminating project to finish up your short story unit? Look no further! This short story project has every thing you need to get students reading and analyzing literature.

Includes:

  • instruction sheet with hyperlinked texts to choose from
  • teacher example slide show
  • template slide show for students to use as they create their presentations
  • rubric
  • graphic organizer for helping students to write objective summary

Students learn digital literacy skills and team work and collaboration in tandem with their literacy skills with this project. As students read their chosen selections, they will use an interactive tool on readwritethink to create character trading cards and to deeply analyze the characters and their impact on the story and its theme. They will also use google drawing to complete a plot diagram.

This culminating project is ready to plug and play in Google Classroom or your LMS of choice.

This project has been a crowd-favorite in my English 2 classes--from inclusion English with a variety of students with diverse learning needs including ELL students to Honors English with AIG students. My students reported that they love the student choice with this assignment and that the template helps them to make sure they didn't forget anything. They also have reported that the example is a useful model.

Fun, engaging, differentiated. You can require students to work independently or you can also purposefully select their partners or allow them to choose.
