Description

You can review shapes in a fun and easy way during your Morning Meeting with HeidiSongs' Shape of the Week Focus Wall set! This set has everything you need to teach 14 shapes, including flashcards, mini posters, questions, and pictures. When teaching kids basic concepts such as shapes, telling them once is just not enough! Daily review and practice are the keys to helping kids notice the differences between the shapes and remembering their names- ESPECIALLY if your student population has had limited preschool opportunities. This set was designed for Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten, First Grade, or homeschooling.

Don't want to print? Click here for our Google Slides version! Also available bundled! The mp3 audio files for the songs (not the video) is also included in this product.

The purpose of any chart on a focus wall is to remind both the teacher and students of the concepts that the class is focusing on each day. A focus wall should not be a decoration; it should be useful! Heidi tried to review everything on the focus wall daily, knowing that some days there wouldn't be time. The trick is to do it whenever you can. This constant, nearly daily review and practice helps most children learn basic concepts, such as shapes, letters, numbers, and words. You will probably find that reviewing the shapes twice a week until the children know them works just fine.

Children will happily cooperate if you make it fun and active, and that's what HeidiSongs materials do best!

This 87 page Shape of the Week flashcard set includes the following:

Shape flashcards in both student-sized and full paper size, real-life shape examples, shape creatures poems, and song lyrics poems, all for the following 14 shapes:

  • Circle
  • Square
  • Triangle
  • Rectangle
  • Hexagon
  • Oval
  • Rhombus
  • Octagon
  • Pentagon
  • Sphere
  • Cone
  • Cube
  • Cylinder

Shapes are presented in multiple positions, such as upside down and sideways, to help children understand that the orientation of the shape doesn't matter.

Headers and subject cards are included in both color and black & white, as shown. See the preview for more details!

Heidi's songs are FREE to listen to on Spotify. Or, you can access the videos by subscribing to HeidiSongs.tv. Please note that video access is not included in this product.
