How can I use these 4th Grade Patterns Worksheets?

    • Supplement your core curriculum
    • Reteach number patterns and shape patterns
    • Small group math intervention
    • Tutoring or homeschool
    • Test-prep for math patterns

What does Sally’s “gradual release model” entail?

    • Sally’s lessons follow an “I Do, We Do, You Do” format.  A math concept is introduced whole group, students then practice with a partner, and finish with independent work time.  This deliberate scaffolding keeps students from feeling defeated or frustrated!
    • Sally’s packets also build slowly in difficulty.  We meet students where they are, regardless of level.  As students gain confidence, the problems get progressively harder.  Not all students will complete all problems and that is by design!
    • Each packet finishes with a “Challenge Page” for anyone who needs something extra!

In addition to the deliberate scaffolding, these 4th grade patterns worksheets also include an instructional guide jam-packed with teaching hacks and best practices.  There is also a “Misconceptions” section that allows you to be one step ahead of mistakes students are most likely to make.

These 4th Grade Patterns Worksheets are common core aligned to 4th grade standard 4.OA.5 (math patterns- number patterns & shape patterns).

Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 1, generate terms in the resulting sequence and observe that the terms appear to alternate between odd and even numbers. Explain informally why the numbers will continue to alternate in this way.
