Severe Weather - Storm Stories PBL 10-Day Unit - SMART Notebook Edition

This product is a dynamic project-based learning 10-day unit that will allow students to research about four severe weather storms: tornadoes, hurricanes, lake effect snow, and thunderstorms.

Students will first research using QR codes to direct them to online resources. Students will answer guiding questions and insert that information into a Severe Weather Recipe Flip Book. The flip book template is ready for student assembly - just copy, have the students staple twice at the top, and trim along the dashed guidelines to reveal the storm categories. Once the flip books are complete, the students will work to complete the second task of the project, which is to create an informative newscast as if they were the reporter live on the scene of the storm. Students will use the research from their storm stories recipe flip book to make the skits informative. Students are collaborating in teams and learn how to work together in addition to understanding how each of these storms form and how to stay safe in these storms.

Technology Considerations:
• Student Computers / Electronic Device with Internet Access and a Camera Function
• Free QR Reader App / Program needs to be installed
• iPad or video camera (optional) to film final products
