What educators are saying

My students enjoyed reading about September 11th from different perspectives. This activity kept them extremely engaged.

Description

Students will distinguish between first and secondhand accounts as they explore and discuss 5 different perspectives surrounding the events occurring on September 11th (9/11). Written with regard to “kid friendly” understanding and sensitivity of the topic, students will collaborate in rich discussions as they participate in this group scoot activity. They will use inferencing skills and text evidence to determine from which point of view each account is written. The integration of both Language Arts skills and social studies content provides a great way to raise awareness of this important event in our nation’s history while at the same time giving practice in several Common Core standard areas.
