What educators are saying

Love this resource! Easy to use and I really enjoyed teaching the lessons plans. It definitely helped me be more creative in my class.
There is a LOT in here and it is well worth the cost. Each lesson and activity is thoughtfully laid out. The pacing calendar is a nice touch as well.

    Description

Here is a discounted bundle of all my resources that go into my semester long calendar that were created by me- I personally use this in BC for English First Peoples.

Skip planning as much as possible and use these ready-made units on poetry, storytelling, podcasting, journalism, media literacy, and more- all with a focus on Indigenous voices in Canada!

To see how I use this resource check out my full FREE calendar HERE!

If you need more Indigenous/First Nations resources (if you teach year-long instead of semester or you have multiple grade levels of English First Peoples) check out my supplementary bundle HERE: Supplementary Semester-Long English First Peoples Bundle: additional resources

    This product includes:

    • 2 week Indigenous poetry bundle with Powerpoint lesson, handouts, workbooklet, biographies
    • Three CBC podcast storytelling units that are 2+ weeks each long (I use Who Killed Alberta Williams in Grade 10, Finding Cleo in Grade 11, and Surviving St Michael's in Grade 12)
    • A lesson on how Indigenous oral storytelling is similar to and different from modern podcasting as intro to the CBC podcasting units
    • Media literacy units using all-Canadian examples, news stories, political campaigns, etc. Has many examples of how the media can be biased in regards to Indigenous stories in the news.
    • A unit on the play "Someday" by Indigenous playwright Drew Hayden Taylor
    • For nonfiction, I have "I hated Tonto (still do)", an article about growing up with a lack of Indigenous representation in media by Sherman Alexie
    • Sub plans for days you can't make it in that still teach students about current issues and environmental activism in Indigenous communities.
    • Much more!
