Semantic Absurdities

What educators are saying
Description
Something is not quite right in these pictures... "A lion doesn't belong in a doghouse! A dog does!" Your students will enjoy describing/ naming "whats silly" about the scenes on each flashcard. There are also pages included for children to draw a picture in a scene to make it semantically absurd!
Semantic Absurdities: 20 stimulus cards and 15 pages to create your own semantic absurdity included in this resource packet. Data sheets corresponding to the numbered stimulus cards are also included. Semantic absurdity cards are a great way to work on a variety of language goals or even carryover for articulation. Students love answering “What’s wrong with this picture?” or “What’s silly in this picture.”
Included in this language packet:
- 20 Absurdity Cards (pages 4 - 8)
- 4 Data Sheets (pages 9 - 12)
- 1 Example Data Sheet (page 13)
- Draw A Silly Scene (pages 14 – 28)
I recommend printing the card covers on the back of each page of cards to keep your decks organized. Another organization option is to hole punch the corners and keep each deck together with a binder ring. Each card measures almost 4x5 inches.
