Self Portrait Grid Drawing Unit Face Proportions Lesson Value Visual Art Project

This unit plan contains everything you need to teach students how to create a self-portrait using the grid method. This is an excellent beginner visual art lesson for students and helps to build confidence in their drawing skills! This unit teaches students how to draw face proportions correctly and how to use the grid method for drawing. For this project, students create a 16"x20" self-portrait based on their 8"x10" photo. You can adjust the dimensions and requirements for this project based on your individual needs. This unit lasts approximately 2-3 weeks depending on your class. This unit was intended for 9th-12th grade high school students but could also work well with 6th-8th grade middle school students with some adjustments.
