    Description

This is a set of 6 reading skills tests. It is aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and to the required reading skills identified by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

These tests can be used to measure progress and improvement throughout the academic year. It is suitable to measure progress toward student learning objectives and to create an evidential record of student learning. Each test covers the same skills and is written in the same format for easy comparison. All tests include answer keys and a report form.

The diagnostic test can be given at the beginning of the year to assess a student's skills and help determine reading level. This will establish a starting point from which to set goals and measure progress.

The progress and final assessments can be given at midyear and at the end of the year to determine how much progress the student has made. The three practice tests can be used to track progress between tests and give students an opportunity to practice.

The compared results can provide evidence that your student has met their reading learning objectives for the academic year or that they are on track to meet their learning objectives with additional instruction. If your student has not met learning objectives, comparing the questions missed on each assessment could indicate the student’s areas of weakness and allow you to target your instruction to address these areas of concern.

A scoring key is included at the end of the assessment. The scoring key not only gives point values for correct answers, but it also identifies the CCSS and TEKS standards associated with each question. By analyzing what CCSS and TEKS aligned skills your child was unable to perform on this assessment, you can determine what areas of instruction you should emphasize during the school year.

Written passages are either original or taken from the public domain. Images are public domain images from Pixaby.com.
