Description

This Smart Notebook lesson (appropriate for elementary music students in grades 3 and up) introduces students to the famous African-American composer Scott Joplin, one of the most popular composer of the Ragtime era. Included in this unit of study, you will find colorful graphics/clip-art, historical background information and pictures on topics like player pianos, cakewalks, etc., short video/audio examples of themes being discussed within the lesson, attached audio examples of colorful listening maps included within the lesson - specifically "The Entertainer" & "The Maple Leaf Rag," activities to check understanding, and SO MUCH more!!! Web links are directly attached to some pictures within the lesson, however, full web addresses are also provided in citation page if any errors occur while trying to use hyperlinks. This file is everything you need to teach your students about this wonderful beloved composer. AND, just in time for Black History Month coming this February!!!
