Scott Joplin (King of Ragtime) Webquest

Students will learn about the key events in the life of Scott Joplin and his impact on music, especially ragtime and the origins of Jazz. This webquest uses a very student friendly website created by the Missouri Historical Society. The following website is used:

The webquest contains 30 questions and is a great way for students to learn more about Scott Joplin, music, and the Jim Crow time period of American history. A QR code along with an answer sheet is included for the teacher. The webquest will take most students 20 to 40 minutes to complete. Feel free to modify this activity if needed to fit the needs of your students. I highly suggest this webquest for students in grades 5-9. If you use this webquest at the upper high school levels, it will only provide basic background information about Scott Joplin. I suggest checking out the website before making your decision to buy this webquest.
