I own a lot of scientist biography books for kids (upper elem-high school) as part of my classroom library so my students can use them as part of their research for this project. I know that my students can find the required information about everyone I’ve included. However, the amount of biographical information available for each scientist online varies and that can add to the challenge of this research project.

To also help you determine which scientists will be easier for your students to research I have indicated if they have entries in Encyclopedia Britannica (our school has a subscription but many entries are free), in Biography.com , Famous Scientists , in the book: Women in science: 50 fearless pioneers who changed the world by Ignotofsky, or in another book that might be in your library. Some of these books may also be available as digital downloads from local libraries. Unfortunately, I have found that information about minority scientists is still harder to find online so that will need to be considered if assigning this as a digital project.
