Description
Science of "The Lorax" (2012) is an animated film based on Theodor Seuss Geisel’s classic children's book of the same name. The story is set in the fictional town of Thneedville, where a young boy named Ted seeks to win the affection of his crush, Audrey. To do so, he embarks on a quest to find a real tree, as trees have become scarce commodities in this artificial city. In his search, Ted encounters the Once-ler, who tells him the story of how the town's environmental degradation began. The Once-ler, once an entrepreneur, explains how he discovered the Truffula Trees, which were integral to the ecosystem and inhabited by the Lorax, a guardian of the forest. As the Once-ler's business grows, he ignores the Lorax's warnings and over-exploits the trees, leading to deforestation and environmental degradation. The movie explores themes of environmentalism, corporate greed, and the consequences of disregarding nature.
