Students will read the informational text to discover how salt and ice solidify ice cream. They will discover a little history of ice cream. The focus is on freezing and melting points in ice cream making. Worksheets guide students on summary writing using the About/Point strategy. Students will be exposed to a variety of methods to help reinforce concepts and vocabulary. They can discover more by visiting the included links to articles and videos. Students can perform the "Try This" as an at-home or in-class activity. They will create a mini ice cream in a bag to observe the science.

Teachers will like the flexibility of being able to use it for distance learning or in the classroom. We created it to be done individually or integrated into guided lessons. Assessment is self-correcting. Teachers can easily turn it into a complete week-long lesson plan or more by using everything included. It is all set to go. Just add in the "Try This" activity. Teachers will enjoy the low-mess ice cream in a bag activity. A great lesson for ELA or science class.
