Are you looking to create hands-on investigations with your upper elementary students? Help students think like a scientist using a lab report template. A Google Slide version is included. We feel this journal is great to assign students to perform an experiment at home. During this time of digital learning, students can use supplies they have on hand. Teachers can recommend topics for the students. We also include the PDF file too for printing. It makes a great family project. Also great to use for a final draft for a poster display.
The journal meets the *Next Generation Science Standards 3rd-5th Grade Science and Engineering Practices.
Students will follow the scientific method by:
- Describing an investigation goal and creating a testable question.
- Creating a hypothesis using the terms independent and dependent variable.
- Designing and performing a hands-on investigation.
- Recording data and creating graphs.
- Summarizing their data and drawing conclusions.
- Identifying possible errors.
