What educators are saying

My environmental students really enjoyed this project. Fun for the end of the year after we discussed climate change.

Description

This is the Google Doc version! I have specifically re-worked it for distance learning, but it can easily be used in person, too! A PDF version of the original (very similar) is also available in my store.

Designed to support NGSS HS-LS2-7: Design, evaluate, and refine a solution for reducing the impacts of human activities on the environment and biodiversity.

This fun research project includes the following in five pages:

-Student instruction sheet

-Teacher scoring guide

-Virtual Gallery Walk audience note sheets

-CER template for assessment

-Voting ballot (optional - usually used with in class assignment. Maybe you could set it up as a Google Form for virtual students to vote?)

Students will research a species, design a plan, and submit their presentation to the teacher. If able, you can post their presentations to Google Classroom or Canvas, etc. to allow for a virtual gallery walk. Each student will also be asked to write a Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER), based on the presentations they review, to decide which species it is most important to save.

My students love this activity and I am impressed with the quality of work they create for this assignment!

Time required: I typically provide 2 weeks for this activity.
